Gone are the gentler days of Lassie and Father Knows Best
Back then, we had a censored system both in Canada, U.S.
Then began the freedom writer’s claim, their right to speak
Today everything goes, there isn’t much for them to tweak
It appears people are dumber, ruder, and fouler as they peak
Why is it getting harder to find a good and decent program?
Cause when the ratings soar, frankly they don’t give a dam
Who is watching what, how it affects our children’s views
All they care about is raking money, or is it making news?
Wish more people would turn off, this brain eating bemuse
Let’s take back our living rooms and fill our heads with books
Value our family and friends, fill our couches and close nooks
With laughter and joy from stories of old, and those not forsook
I still believe in Mr. Roarke, Gilligan, and good old Superman
I love Lucy, and frankly my dear, I do believe, I give a dam!
