LIFE - Team Contest - Tanka and Quatern

Poem 1

                                          Her heart stirred, she smiled
looking at the face she loved.
                                          His eyes mirrored hope
                                          remembering their lost love
                                          crushed by fate, re-awakened

Poem 2

Where is the light that lived within,
Why has the flame of doubt appeared.
The trees bend slightly in the wind
Towards darkness, now have you veered.

Focus on the things dear to you,
Where is the light that lived within.
Your day will come before it's through,
You that have, not died, with sin.

Deep in your soul, you seek therein
The pleasures, that should not have been.
Where is the light that lived within.
Questions of how this came and when

How long have you abandoned life
What have you done, where have you been,
Will you choose to remain in strife
Where is the light, that lived within.

Well I was happy with the outcome before the judgement. I really like the Quatern, I guess because it's longer and we had more from each of us. It's funny now, I look at it, and some lines not sure if they were mine or yours, and I have a pretty good memory, I guess that is a sign of great teamwork. I guess the whole poem still speaks to me. I must say seeing who we placed with is an impressive list of poets here, so that's pretty spectacular. Thanks again for working with me.

by the way, did you visit that blog of Craig's when he was explaining the meter of Sapphic stanza. It is pretty much the opposite of iambic pentameter. If you follow his advice, the way he writes out the stressed/unstressed syllables, I think you could come up with something but you are right, it's kind of difficult to do. Hope you can write one!
