I hate these lying mirrors, saying I am older than I feel.
And, why can’t I find a bathroom scale that can give me an answer that is real?
I avoid all Kodak moments; the images steal my soul.
And, why is growing hair on top of my head such an improbable goal?
Why do I keep getting letters from the A.A.R.P?
And why are things I witnessed myself now being taught in high school history?
They say it beats the alternative; this process of growing older –
But I want God to keep me young and that is exactly what I told her!
