Ne'er walk on Craigie Moor
When weather is grey and doohr
For they say the de'il day walk
And there's much a Demon talk
So ne'er walk on Craigie Moor
When weather is grey and doohr.
Bonnie Mary dared the walk
And oft' aboot it folk day talk
In the morn' through the grey mist
They seen her body an' it missed
That pretty heed wih wanton smile
It lay somewhoare on the de'il's mile.
Frank Finlay, they cald him fool
He came fih the auld school
He walked oot on the Craigie
On a nicht dark and sceary
Ne'er was auld Frank seen again
Some say the de'il had tane 'im hame.
And on nichts when mist day roll
The de'il will come, the mile his goal
If ye be caught oot oan the mile
It will be yihr greatest trial
Run like the wind, yihr hairt be true
For the de'il will sure be after you.
Close yihr een tae all yih see
Run fihr yihr life, yihr liberty
For if the de'il dae catch yih there
He'll drag yih hame by the very hair
And if it be oan Halloween
Yih'll be the finest denner their's e'er been.
