Give a Dam

A war raged on twixt north and south
while dimpled smiles raised her fine mouth,
simplicity seduced.
He wanted her, he loved her grace
but of her mind, well, there's no trace,
he catered and abused.

Although they'd breed her tall and fine
fed her on dates and cherry wines,
she was simply useless.
They'd made of her just what they wished
a receptacle, a tasty dish,
faults; they would address.

Then one foul day he showed his core
that gallant man was no mentor
unskilled in all but amour
He left her there by the balustrade
"I don't give a damn" is what he said.
Your charms I now abhor.

So as you see the North has won
don't let southern parts get you undone
mind your business
Leave him first that handsome bore
kick his arse out the kitchen door
he was simply useless.

Oh, double meaning. North=heads and South=tails. LOL. War indeed, and one that so many of us have found ourselves fighting, at one time or other. And all women (lol) eventually learn that the saying "the south will rise again" is more than a slight exaggeration. Ha. I may be tired, but I can still zap a line or two. There may be hope for me after all...

Well, that was darn rude of me... sheesh...d'oh... hey, funny poem in that catty way which I love to read and write, a little hissy and just the right tone. Have no idea what this is for... which contest... but if it is for the painting one with the simpering girl, I'd place this high, but then again, lol, I'm as Francine (love her) said, "A Canadian s*it disturber" Yup. My grave will read, "May be returned due to defects." LOL... miss you, can't wait for fall. Keep blazing, luv!

Hey there :) I've been off the net for a bit and now I find that my email (which I thought would work for another week) is now kaput. I have tried to figure out how to create a new account with my new (less helpful) server, but, argh, nothing yet. Sooo.. will probably leave it till the first week in September, then call them. Hope to send you a soupie either tonight or tomorrow... move STILL not completely finished and hub and I are beyond wiped out. Holy crap, where DO KIDS get their energy lol

ok, let me see what you are talking about getting this joke here. Um, if there is a joke in the form, does that mean I have a dirty mind? Because what is coming to my mind is dirty! Is a joke in the title as well, dam for damn? I think I can get that one too. You know, it's been so long since I watched that show. Was he really such a cad?? I don't recall thinking he was the bad guy! I was just a kid when I saw it. This is a cool poem. and it makes me wish I could see that movie thru my new eyes.
