Road Trip

Riding in the shotgun seat, of our old Chevrolet.
On the road to adventure, in the late part of May.
Annoying my dad, with the choice of music I play.
Damn my distracting him, we're now going the wrong way.

The road is dark and dusty, we're running out of day.
Ripping along at eighty, with not alot to say.
In the midst of that silence, I use the time to pray.
Please Lord can you help me, I need a safe place to stay.

I am thinking like Cecilia. you should be praying more for sanity!!! I like how you show the negative aspect of road trips with this one. I remember in the 70's, driving at 90 mph was the NORM!! good poem, and soupmail for ya.

Just think about all the fun I would have missed out on over the years.

Nothing scarier than riding with impatient and annoyed parents. I have some harrowing memories. I love the vivid imagery in your poetry.

have you returned safely? I like to get lost like this. That is real adventure. When I was small walked in a tiny track to the neighboring village. The feeling I had was still haunts in me. You have penned nicely.

Thanks Manel, made it back but have been lost many times. Like most men I fail to ask for directions.

Great poem. I remember how as kids our noise distracted our parents and if we were too quiet they were distracted wondering what we were up to. I posted two poems this morning, wanted to let you know.
