Heaven For A Poet

My own piece of heaven, a quiet little nook,
With only the finest parchment in a leather book,
A feather quill pen and an ocean of ink,
My thoughts would never stop to think,
Every single line I write would rhyme,
My poetry would be beautiful and sublime,
I'd be entertained daily, by Dr. Seuss,
And, put to sleep nightly, by Mother Goose,
Lessons from Byron, Shelley, Coleridge and Poe,
Teaching me every single thing that they know.

My own piece of heaven, will have to wait,
Until one day, when I must meet my fate,
So, for now I will have to be content,
With my own words that may be heaven sent,
Inspiration from my idols is all I need,
Writing poetry in a notebook from Mead,
With this cheap, plastic Bic pen,
And a dream to be, just like them.

Hi Kelly, we all have our wn idea of what Heaven shall be for us. I like your idea of your Heaven. One thing Kelly, always be content with your own words for they are good words. Heaven for me has nothing to do with poetry, but i don't think I'll get my Heaven. You shall get yours because you deserve it. Belittle your own words in no way for all words have meaning and all your words mean something. Sometimes one seems lost. Have a good day. Catch you later. Your Friend always....MIKE.

Hi Mike, I have always have trouble with never feeling confident with my writing ability. Sometimes, I feel like I need inspiration from the great poets, for me to write a good poem. More recently though, I have been learning that my own words can be good enough, without anyone's help! I still think that it would be an honor to learn from those great poets, too. I am sure that you will get your Heaven, my friend. You are such a kind-hearted person. Thank you for your comments, your words touched my heart!

oh wow, I found one down here, SO CUTE. And the bic pen line was very clever. YOu know, I also did a poem very similar to this theme many years ago, but it was shorter than yours!!

Nicely done Thanks so much for the great and honest comment on my Lifes Sad Pit poem. I am honored you want to favorite it. Hugs

I love Love LOVE all your references, but you had me with Shelley and Poe (two of my faves). This is an outstanding poem (going into my faves). Excellent work! :)

Quite the contrast here. Sounds about like what I do :) Not sure about the Doc S. though. "Byron, Shelley, Coleridge, and Poe" are in perfect order; the rhythm of the syllables is very pleasing to my ear. Did you perhaps mean "every" in the line following? By the way, this is a very good poem and I like it! I wonder though, if it would be more effective if the verses were reversed? I normally prefer ending on a heavenly note.

I see what you mean, but with my ending, I wanted to show that I am not that great, yet.... Still struggling to be perfect, just like everyone else is!

Tis goes very well in my head thou the poets are not very familiar except for Poe. . . and you used cheap Bic pen. . . we have that here too. . . i prefer Pilot 5mm fine pen.
