~though we become tattered and torn,
we must keep making our way
through the brambles and thorns,
to emerge on the others side
completely whole, and justified~
As we come nearer to the end of our lives,
and we ponder what this time here was all about,
we think about the legacy we’ll leave behind.
In days to come, people will remember who we were ...
Will we be remembered as someone dark,
someone bitter and angry and full of hate?
Or would we rather be remembered as someone
who was forgiving and loving …
It’s never too late
to choose to leave a legacy of love.
When our children tell their children about who we were,
will they speak with pride and admiration
in frequent and bittersweet conversation?
Or will they prefer to try to forget
the person they wished they’d never met.
This is something we all must contemplate ...
We have a choice ~ and it’s never too late.
The legacy we leave is more than just
a memory we leave behind ...
It’s a piece of ourselves which will last forever.
It’s the reason for our lives and what we’ve gone through.
We can make a difference by the way we live ...
Let’s turn our hearts to our children,
and teach them by our example to love and forgive.
It’s never too late to make a difference.
Light dawns in the darkness for the upright ...
It is well with our soul and the pain can cease,
knowing we are leaving behind this righteous legacy.
This is the meaning of life.
This is how we go in peace ...
~ and it’s never too late
