Prisoner

Send me back home where I truly belong
Cut the chains dear, please let me depart
Why does your brain keep replaying our song?
Let my melody drift to your heart

Making me haunt you is very unkind
I'm no ghost dear, please grant my parole
Why bottle me up inside of your mind?
Set me free to go dwell in your soul...

Tim, I had to take a second look at this one... I know a little bit about lyrical love songs of all genres.... Try as I might I cannot see myself penning anything better than this.... Magnificent.... Jake

Okay, you're free to go but promise to come back when I need you again (lol). On a serious note, I know well the space you're describing here. True love simply cannot undo itself. Good one, my poetic friend. Licia :-)

I'm thinking that the memory of someone can't be let go in an appropriate way. I can relate. Letting go can be so hard sometimes. What seems so hard at one time in life becomes so much easier at the right time. Then, I ask myself why it was so hard in the first place. The way you describe this is truly with affection.

Wow,,,,truly touching....beautiful words,,, Tim. It's a reversal of being plagued by someone but instead the release to let you go in the other persons mind that you love....That's true deep love:) ty4sharing your beautiful mind....

'Let my melody drift to your heart' and following 'Set me free to go dwell in your soul'-I love those two lines..It feels like a dilhemma between let go and never let go..The mind sends signals to keep going without looking back but the heart and soul keep being chained to love memories and thoughts-a very beautiful poem Tim
