FOR THE FISHHOUSE

I shop there, fresh
from the sea. I never
met a fin for which
I didn't have a yen.
Blackened, fried, any
old way, as long as
I have my say.
No wonder then,
it's safe to bet
a turquoise betta
is the house pet.
"Pretty baby," I say
to my Beau, "spread
out your rainbow
and swim to me. "
Sometimes, he
does, sometime he
doesn't. Depends
on the current.
