About This Poem

Girl in the Car

Remember when we cuddled together in your 57 chevy
in the field by the haunted bridge
the girl in the car in the field by the haunted bridge
where we talked well into the night
and held each other tight
told all our secrets
kissed by the pale moonlight
summer days were full of wonder
as we explored one another
learning our likes and dislikes
feeling down when we said good night

when summer ended we parted
and lived separate lives
years flew by only to bring you back
wanting to know me again
pretty words to lure me in
look at me
look inside of me
and you will know I am not that girl
we cannot go back
life has taken away my youth
pain has pierced my heart
to bleed tears of sadness
the girl you showed such tenderness
and love is a woman now
with a past
why in your dreams do you want me still
the laughter and song have left my soul
I am not the girl you loved
the girl in the car in the field by the haunted bridge

I had a 57 Chevy....when i was way older..but my first love...when i was young...was my '55' a pale yellow, and white ...parked with many a time for LOVE...Only for PASSION....was fearful...of ties that bring back so many memories from a wayward past...i barely remember most of them....what a waste of passion....not much good without love.....i love your poetry...

Great story. Love's passion is seldom forgotten.
