Tanka:

Your face unwrinkles
You are imponderable
In your vast silence
In your deep, dark blue embrace
Who dares breach your salty keep?

I find this to be a strong tanka for several reasons, especially because I am able to interpret it in different ways .... as the ocean personified, as different people and characters. Michael, I am pleased to meet your acquaintance -- well, poetically and as online digital representations of ourselves, at least. You obviously don't have to answer this question, but I am curious to know if this was your first attempt at writing tanka?

Hi Chris, pleased to 'meet' you too. This tanka was 'my first', a mutation of several threads I was working on, which I painstakingly took apart and reconnected until somehow these pieces came together. It was the first tanka I wrote which I thought had real value in the form. Cheers&thanks
