The Love A Mother Should Give

Going through old messages
And I see your name pop up
I smile to myself at all the memories
we had
I take a breath and know you've
moved on
Its been to long to try and go back
The dreams forgetten the feelings
burried deep
Try hard to breath and calm my
frustraion
I know it ended like it had to
But still I wish you could be here
To watch me grow up
To watch me live my life
To do the things a parent should
To love me like I need you too
I wish that things could be the same
The life I thought we'd live together
The stage I thought id cross
The smile I thought id see on your
face
The pride I know that you'll still feel
When you hear your baby girl is
growing up
Its been a year but it feels like
twenty
Since I last felt like you cared
You call to talk and say I love you
But it never sounds like you do at all
I'm growing up on my own
The love of famly that's all around
But its nothing compaired to
the love a mother should give

A mothers love can not be bought, it has to be given as your last line says. Without that gift it leaves a deep void in a young girl life. You have written a fine poem on what is missing in your young life. Hoping for better times.
