Brother dog

Brother Dog.

When life made humans long ago
I tell you something new
She made the dog, just afterwards
And then she thought things through
Then came up with a great idea
She gave to man this gift
That always this sweet humble dog
Will give his heart a lift

She gave him courage and loyalty
And affection for mankind
And made it so a puppy’s play
Within one’s heart can find
A string to start a melody
She gave them so much love
And then she sent this gift to us
From Heaven up above.

So when I see my big Bear dog
And he gazes in my eyes
I understand what all this means
Cause dogs, they seem so wise
I feel his love flow out to me
Like a beacon in the night
Oh my, oh my, my brother dog
You give me such delight.

This is such a great poem and wonderfully written. I'm not even a dog person and I can still feel what you are saying. Great work!

Peter, i like the way you consider the true nature of a brother dog... almost like family... love the poem... i agree on comfort and reason God created these wise dogs of delight... Linda
