City On A Hill

Valley of death, left and to the right, there is death all around.
People forget to focus upon that City on a hill.
Now in these days one could barely see the sky because
of its darkened haze.
It has become easy to get caught up in sin so sinister,
a sneaky substance that at first looks so friendly, a friend
to play with, but by the time you see what this spirit of sin
is and you ask it to leave - to return to its home, this one that
you once called friend does not take rejection lightly, and like
an annoying pest will remind you again and again that because
you once were friends that your association should not end, and
that you might enjoy it at first what seems to be a different
innocent pleasure just to find out that it is the same old book
again inside a different cover.
No one is immune from being the prey, from trying to allude
a practiced hunter.
I who observe what is going on not only with me, but will all
of those who live and breathe can only listen, watch and write
what I see, observe, and experience.
