Thorns and Roses

                                                      Some stories
                                                lie buried deep under,
almost forgotten yet not ready to surrender.

                                          They breathe under the debris
                                                 un-noticed for eternity.

                                          Seasons come and seasons go,
the world has changed in a big way,
of this the world under the debris does not know.

A lone passerby lays on it a wreath,
                                              oblivious of his sentiments
                                           the stories continue to breath.

                                              Unaware of a sighing heart
sits a man with his wife and child,
while there's a girl who dreams about him every single night.

Like in a book a chapter closed,
                                            some people never look back,
afraid if they do a secret will be disclosed.

She carries that secret in her chest
like it's the only treasure she ever had.

Carrying on with the daily chores
                                              she continues to hope,
hope of a starry night and of a bright summer's day.

It took days and it took years
with the faith shining bright from the crevices of fear.

The first rays of light are here
and here is a little green pod smiling from the snow.
The girl is smiling at the obscurity of her faith,
for it is now her destiny
what was an impossible dream a long time ago.

An eternity of darkness and a century of pain,
                                               but whatever the struggle,
                                               it's always worth the gain.

Cryptically challenging, though well written and mystically attracting. It's meaning eludes me, yet I cannot let it go... You have my attention and I shall return.... Jake
