It’s night, the nest waits for its bird , at dawn, went out
Even close friends unaware of his whereabouts.
The traffic on the highway peaks and drops finally
The nest keeps on wondering where could its bird be?
Has he got hooked up with a cutie on the way
And decided to spend the night , from home, away
The midnight owl hoots, the nest heaves out a sigh
Has one of his near ones fallen sick or even die
The neighbour’s cow bellows.. for water or for feed?
Too weak to fly ? To get food, he didn’t succeed?
The cock is crowing, but where has the bird gone
Is he caught up with work to be finished before dawn
Finally the sun dawned with the world moving faster
When the nest heard the feeble twitter of its master
Telling that he had sat up the night on a tree , distraught,
Stayed away from the nest, so muddled with stray thoughts
What is this bird, if not the sought- after- sleep indeed?
Is not the nest the eye that at night for sleep pleads?
