Thank you, Wilma. I had fun writing it. from the perspective that came to me ..... Evidently I wrote myself out of any position on the winners list. .Such is life.... Jake

Thanks, Judy... I disagree. Yours followed the rules and Mine was from a different perspective which the judges evidently did not like.... Jake

you capture so much with just a few words. amazing and very good. I read another one of yours that reminds me of "America the Blue" that I wrote.

Phyllis, There are few people that were present at Pearl Harbor on that December morning. I was seven at the time and remember well the angry feeling that set the industry in motion that won the war for the allies. The movie, "Tora, Tora, Tora" will illustrate the meaning of my entry.... It's worth a look if you get a chance to view it.... Jkae

Once again, I must comment..........the red sun on the wing of the aircraft, has such significance........and makes this poem even more poignant and memorable. And John, I'm grateful for your kindness and comments ....it means so much to me. Thank you!!

Carrie, when I wrote this I thought few people would catch the significance of the Red Sun. People would normally look for the beauty of nature, but the infamy of 12/07/41 Was my first thought... Thanks so much... Jake

Isn't Japan called the land of the rising sun?..We had a little boy from Japan to come here once with his family..He tried to teach us southerners some Japanese one day..We were lost at understanding his language and he did not understand ours..I don't see how he learned anything in school..Great work..I believe that it will place in the contest..Sara

Sara, you broke the code.... Yes... The empire of Japan was known as the Land of the Rising Sun. and the battle cry of WW2 was "Remember Pearl Harbor!" I hope no one believes I hold a grudge.... I find that forgiveness is a balm that eases many pains.... Thanks for your encouraging comments...Jake

Karen, I added a huge clue after reading yours and other comments. I chose this theme because on 12/07/41 on the deck of USS Arizona, the rising sun was no thing of beauty...Karen, your comments can be so comforting.... Thanks... Jake

Jake, your gift of putting the right words together while creating imagery at the same time in one fell swoop- simply amazing as usual :)

After reading your comment below I knew there was more to this than dawned on me at first read. The imagery is perfect for your theme. Maybe the date of Pearl Harbor as a last line dangling farther down the would have given a clue to someone who usually isn't clueless. Thank you for sharing this beauty

Rose, there aren't many people left who will catch the meaning of the Red Sun (Rising Sun) I probably wrote myself out of a winning place.... But 12.07/41 is the first thing that came to mind... Love ya darlin'... Jake
