Strange. In my previous comment below, I mentioned how it might be better if you add to this standing-alone, couplet....and now I see that you have shortened the two lines into only one. Well, wotever man(lol).

Ruben, ha ha I know this ugly image... and I say ugly cuz, of all the humidity we dread after a rainy day during the summer. . Congratulations in Andrea's steaming hot summer couplet contest... what else could we ask for -the constant reminder of the hottest season that wonders through my Texas Sky. <3<3<3 ~SKAT~

Hey stranger, I hope this couplet means you are back---psst, I have a free verse contest running!

  1. Date: 6/27/2013 12:19:00 AM

I saw that your "Solstice" poem was honoured in Debbie's contest blog. I still think it is one of your best poems. I don't know about this couplet post? If I am to be honest, and not fake, I'd have to admit how I am almost disappointed that this is wot you finally post after so many months in-between new submissions. For a couplet, you packed-in a lot of good imagery, and as Richard L. mentions below, the thirsty earth makes for good poetry. The couplet is fine....but a couplet on its own, as a post? Hey, if your public muse is that desperate, then I can understand. By all means, continue posting.

:D Enjoyed this... our puddles here in Ontario are refusing to dry.. rain rain and more rain. Best wishes for the contest, this should "shine" ... lol.. I can't help myself. PS--- I removed my blog. Seems the numbskull either removed his poems or Soup (thank you soup) deleted his account. I emailed soup as well. I just had to rant for a bit... sheesh, who wouldn't? Many times there are double meanings in your poems but i guess its really about a summer day this time..right? I'm yearning for some rain..but i guess it won't happen till the end of August. The warm breath from a thirsty earth devouring puddles-Pondering..thinking...analyzing.. Intriguing as ever..Welcome back

We have had a lot of rain during the last couple of weeks here in New Jersey. Right now, the ground is not thirsty, it is turgid. Good write.
