Summer's Breath

A warm breeze gently lifts the white voile
I watch it dance from across the room where I lay
Half awake, and recovered from yesterday’s toil
I’m awakened to the smell of an early summer’s day

Honey suckle makes its heightened presence known
As it thickens the air with pungent perfume
Soft, sunrays through the opened window shone
And cast shadows of climbing ivy in costume

While brilliant blue skies steal their golden hue
Bid me arise and take in the vast beauty all around
The endless sunrises and sunsets, to pursue
When the world is young again and life is more profound

I hear the ocean’s call through the wind, ’come home’
Our long distance love affair still grows strong
It makes no difference where these feet may roam
In summer or winter, love endures and can’t be wrong

To judge this artistry as a mere poem in a contest would be such a disservice. Your pure talent has been used to create such beauty... it was tremendously moving.... Jake

An undoubtedly brilliant write. It brightens the day with beauty and ecstacy of love. Well done. Thanks for visiting my poem the Bloodshed of Mynamar,Anne. Your positive and encouraging thoughts are a solace. From time immemorial mankind is witnessing huge and monsterous shadows of the first bloodshed. May be this is the nature's idea of keeping the exploding human population under control. The mystry is known to God alone. Love. -Mohammad

You're an outstanding poet, Annalise. "climbing ivy in costume", this paints a nice picture in my head of those plants with character. Can't believe there's no other comments here yet... fantastic work!
