Whenever I Look Back Down

Whenever I look back down
into your half-lidded eyes,
amongst the hint of darkness,
the hue of full moon-lit skies;
my actual essence feels
torn apart to it's pieces,
the pounding of all my thoughts,
like my very heart, ceases;
sensations are sent reeling,
my perceptions are, then, flown,
as though my head,
from an impossibly great height's been thrown
to plunge into the rapid course
of some near artery
that speeds my entire being
into some vast, unknown sea,
there, where I must give myself
to the unforgiving tide,
as I play witness to Fate
upon the waves that we ride,
under such influence of the Moon,
the waters do roil,
as they cause my head to wash
upon a new, stranger soil,
where I'm found and carried back
to my senses by your sighs,
while I, again, look back down
into your half-lidded eyes.
