A Shoulder to Cry On

The shoulders to cry on are scarce
A man doesn’t like a wet soggy shoulder
Soaked with salty tears
And broken dreams
A face streaked with runny mascara
And the sound of sniffling
No, shoulders to cry on are scarce

A man wants a happy faced woman
Eyes dazzling
Lips glossy tipped
Mascara in place
A pretty face
A body supple not crumpled
No sniffles but sighs
The kind that drive him wild
No, shoulders to cry on are scarce

If only he'd realize
That funny shallow guy
That a shoulder to cry on
Will give him in the end
A pillow to sleep on
That is soft and round
And the only other sound
Will be that of her sighs
And her alluring eyes
That drive him wild

All because...simply because
He's learned to be
In her time of need
The shoulder she cries on
Now in his time of need
She's happy to be
That breast that he lies on!

I know I like to nuzzle up on my wife's breast...haha. Of course, I'm always there if she needs a shoulder too. Well said, Eileen. Have a great weekend!

Nuzzle or suckle? Either way....nuzzle away, my dear! :) Woman like to be comforting in a mummy sort of way sometimes...OK...that just sounded weird. Glad she has your shoulder to cry on, Caleb. :) You too!

John....thanks for sharing the words of that song with me! I must try to hear it. I speak of men in general....MOST men are unable to deal with tears....Also, they find it hard to deal with depression. My husband does well...he can always do better! Can't we all! Thanks for the post.

I see you're back in 'Agony Aunt' mode. This role really suits you Eileen. We all need one of those shoulders now and again. The message is great and the writing superb as ever. Take care, Richard

My dearest if the woman we care cries on our shoulder a blessing for us is: the running mascara , the salty tears, the sound of sniffling, all these notes of the melody of love! No reward asked! GREAT POEM as always! Tender and real! Thank you!

Perhaps a guys perspective, there are many of us who are willing and able to comfort our women in their times of need. We know what it is like to have a woman melt into our arms and bare her soul. There is nothing more real and profound than the sharing of such deep emotion and it draws you both so much closer together. We also know what it is to have our tears soak a woman's shoulder and feel her love and acceptance.

Richard...these types of men are rare indeed. I'm so glad that you belong to the group who are able to take the runny mascara and the sobs! I can be a shoulder to cry on, and often my students come to share with me what is going on in their lives. I wish everyone were so giving and understanding.
