Jewellery Box

an old jewellery box shabby and brown
lays before me in the pawn shop
the ballerina broken and bent
her tattered dress dusty and blue
memories in this old box a mystery
so long ago in another lifetime
a story to be told
perhaps a gift from a handsome gent
tales of romance and glory
maybe a dear Mothers gift to
to her sweet daughter
on her wedding day
to hold her precious stones and dreams
good luck to come her way
my hand gently touches the chest
reflecting on days gone by
a lifetime ago when she was young
yearning for love
full of wonder
glowing with desire
on top of the world
timeless love
