The gentle Dragon

The gentle dragon

There once was a dragon
A gentle young soul
Who’s life it was troubled
He had, he no goal
To breath out those flames
Like all dragons did
He lived his life, mellow
And kept feelings hid.

All of the dragons
Reacted with scorn
They never had known
Such a beast to be born
They jeered him and teased him
And threw at him stuff
They scared this poor fellow
Till he'd had enough.

He’d lay in his small cave
And cry all night long
This poor little dragon
He wasn’t too strong
And all of the jeers
That his peers threw at him
They upset him badly
And made life so grim.

Then one day it happened
They ganged up on him
Dragons are fighters
And mostly they’re dim
So they hurt this poor dragon
In body and mind
Cause they were so foolish
And acted so blind.

Our sad little dragon
He could not take more
He Packed his belongings
Walked out of the door
To look for some humans
He’d heard they were fair
And he thought to himself
Perhaps they would care.

He walked for some hours
Till his body tired out
Then he Came to a village
With folk all about
These were the humans
He was looking for
So he went to the headman
To find out some more.

That man saw our dragon
And screamed, then he ran
Oh, he was so frightened
A terrified man
Then all of the people
They did gather round
And that poor little dragon
Too soon was he found.

They caught him and bound him
Then locked him away
In a dirty, damp dungeon
Where now, to this day
He rots, and he freezes
As he wonders why
No one did except him
He wanted to die.

This story it tells me
If one’s not the same
As all of the others
That play in this game
Then they’ll crucify you
And treat you like dirt
And that’s why this dragon
They really did hurt.
