Crayons

When I was a little girl, no higher then your knee,
I was given a box of crayons to enhance my creativity.
I laid out all those crayons in a long, long line, you see.
Mesmerized by what laid just at my fingertips for me.

I've held a rainbow in my hands and a unicorn with blue eyes.
I've sailed on the back of a fire breathing dragon to my surprise,
Through a purple-black sky, twinkling stars and a golden moonrise.
The most precious gift of all was my imagination that went sky-high.

Today the smell of crayons will put a grin upon my old face,
And then I'll color in my grand kids coloring books with grace.

Very beautiful picture you've colored here in these lines! Very nicely done! I really enjoyed reading this, thank you for suggesting it. I always had a box of Crayola crayons near me throughout my childhood. I loved to sort out the colors, and lay them out in a rainbow! Also, thank you for the kind comments on my poem "A Kid At Heart". It really means a lot to me!

Very cute!! I've always been a colored pencil person myself, but crayons have a certain charm.

Colored pencils are on the top of my list. Colors patiently layered and burnished; tedious, but results, unbelievably beautiful. Thank you for the visit and comment. Much appreciated Heather. Warm Smiles, Connie

I don't remember my first colors but I remember the first time one of my granddaughters got access to them. I had purchased them for her and she was at my house when she first got them. When it was time to go home she screamed when her mother tried to loosen her grip on the colors. I meant for her to take them with her but her mother didn't know. Congratulations on your win. Love, Joyce

You have put a huge smile on my face! A smile put there because you describe completely my niece and nephew! Their creativity explodes because of coloring, they are twins and are just 3 years old but create such masterpieces, especially my niece, she can color much better than me! I love the way you described each imaginary creatures, life occurrences, and your memories that you hold dearly from the past! I see you started early with you imagination, that's awesome, Great Work!!
