Military Tunic

~Homeless Poet~

A lost guardian angel.
Sitting on the edge of the world.
I follow the cracks of the sidewalk, my trolley and I.
My home on the corner of every mission street.
My tin coffee cup starts off with caring heartbeats.
My only possession is the icon of war, with six buttons missing.
Navy, and white my grandfathers 70-year-old military tunic.

My Jacket-
My blanket-

My Jacket from which I am inseparable.
My Jacket goes wherever I go.

This Jacket is my home.

Hi Linda, I have to tell you sweetheart I,m actually sitting here in stitches, not at your poem, I Love it, at little Leo, she just keeps popping up here like an adorable bunny. But, let's be serious and get down to business. Once again you pen a piece that plays on the emotions. There should never be any of us without a home, we bshould all have a safe farbour to belong. This world becomes a greatly sadder place to these ancient eyes. Have a good day. Catch you later. Your Friend always..MIKE

The monkey sent me, hee hee, my dear poet friend this is outstanding, sadly many wear blinkers, and don't want to know about our heros, the horrific things they see, Whitchurch leads them to give up on the world many I have seen, and my heart breaks they come back to insults, nobody wants to know, can't find work, can't get a home, Vietnam was the worse, your troops, our diggers treated with such disrespect and Vermont, great write, blessings my friend, sueellen

I think you saw someone wearing a military jacket one day when driving by. They were probably old and homeless-- maybe not. That's my guess, or maybe you have your grandfather's military tunic in a closet somewhere and this story came to mind. Either way, I like it. Good job, but you have to tell me if I'm right or wrong sometime. Of course, the best part that I like is it's shorter than your usual, and you still got the message across. g.
