I Dream my Dreams Alone

I go to bed alone
I wake up alone
I eat all my meals in silence
Not another soul at home

I laugh alone
I cry alone
I wander through these rooms
Imprisoned in my home

I dream alone
I scream alone
I reach out for an embrace
In this bedroom of my home

Alone, alone
I’m tired of being alone
I’m dying here alone
While you travel far from home

And then you come back home
There is noise and there is life
And as you lie down to sleep
I’m left to wonder deep

You’re beside me and yet
Alone, Alone
I dream my dreams alone
For in your obliged embrace
My heart is dying… alone.

It's not always easy to share dreams, even with those close to you, unless their dreams are similar. How often does that happen? Lovely write and insightful too. Take care, Richard

This really cuts, Eileen. To be alone in the company of others is sometimes worse...yes? Great poem, Eileen!

Sometimes being with someone creates the most lonely emotions. This is heart wrenching.

I wrote this some time ago when I was in a dark place. I'm doing ok, Richard. Perhaps my expectations are too high, or maybe I don't realize that there are different ways of expressing love. Thanks for the post.

wow, I don't know if this is based on reality or not, but you really wrote a great poem about being alone, whether one is truly the only one around or not. It can even happen with someone near you. VERY nice.

What a tragic feeling... to feel alone, while sleeping right beside the person you love. I know your family is away at the moment... but you gotta hold onto the fact it's just temporary. There are people here on the Soup you can always talk too... heartfelt piece, thought it makes me sad to think of what you're going through.

Timothy....I wrote this sometime ago. Sometimes our own perceptions are flawed or we are just too needy. I don't know...I'm doing well now so please don't worry! I do get tired of the empty house when they are both away..I'm not the kind of person who does well alone for too long! Thanks for the post and warm sentiments! I know I have a true friend in you.

Life isn't always full of sunshine, is it? We take the good and the bad and thank God for giving us life! Nice of you to read and post, Bl. I appreciate it.

Eileen... Shall I confess that you made me read with tears?! Shall I express about the sadness you left in me? This is not a poem... it is a shrill scream springing from a heart tortured by loneliness an abandonment. But hey.. remember that company does not count by the number of people around us... sometimes we are in a gathering and our minds fly away.. and sometimes in the loneliest moments, we find joy and satisfaction. It's very weird. Still, I can only say: my heart is always with you! XOX

Thanks so much, Guru Jad! I know that you care and you are always a great support and friend. I wrote this some time ago...I'm better now! :) Still I thought the message was good to share. Yes..sometimes we are lonely in a crowd and sometimes when alone with have peace and tranquility. Strange world! Thanks for your lovely post.

I wouldn't usually do this, ever, but I need you to read my latest writing. It may help. Instead of becoming "alone", remove the "al" and become "one". May you reach out for brighter days.
