Charles Dickens

Charles Dickens
was said to be the pickings
of literature in the nineteenth century,
but I couldn't make it pass page three!

I loved Great Expectations, we had to read it in grade six but I really enjoyed it so it was not a chore. If you have a chance check out my Pantoum, you seem familiar with the form and I want to make sure I am on the right track.

I will for sure do that! I might pick up a Dickens again... but at the current state I can't wrap my head around the style of writing.

Ha, nice. But I have to disagree, with novels like Our Mutual Friend and Bleak House! :)

Perhaps I'll pick it up again... the mindset you have, when picking up a book, is very important. Thanks for commenting...

I seem to have brushed upon a sensitive topic with you... lol! So far Sherlock Holmes has been the only nineteenth century literature that wasn't too hard to understand the era-barrier.

I honestly WANTED to like Dickens. He was so famous and looked incredibly interesting. But it was really hard to move past the olden style language... I actually made it through 50 pages or so, but found it difficult to familiarize myself with the language. Maybe someday I'll pick it up and try again!
