Melancholy Memory

on a stiff mattress
in the camper trailer,
I couldn't see the stars
just ceiling...

a long camping trip
with too many board games,
nothing worthy of note,
but a thought:

"What if you're cancer
claimed you 'for I returned?"
the loud storm did nothing
for my mood...

I tried to be brave
for grandma slept with me;
suppressed weeping due to
thunder heads...

I called my friend up,
said, "Wanna chill?". He said,
"I have something I must
tell you first."

Thank you Caleah! The memory refers to a premonition I had of someone dying... when I got back from the dull camping trip it actually ended up happening! It gave me a weird depression feeling to say the least...
