The Birdbath

The first is like an imaginary vision;
a tiny apparition, in three quick flashes.
The landing, one sip, then disappearing,

sweet fairy wren.

Then, there is the brazen, full, plop of the Currawong;
raucous, self proclaiming
 with flapping ablutions

and on exit, stealing one
of the floating silk lilies.

    That is a sweet little poem, and made me feel like I was there watching those birds, it takes me three eight line stanzas to say what you just wrote. Well done Suz, very beautiful Peter

    For such a seemingly light-hearted title, these lines hit hard. Very, very enjoyable read.

    You have a great ability for the minutest details. Many would skim over and grab the more obvious details... but you really capture the moment! I wish I had a better vocabulary for you seem to use really strange words that are kinda foreign to me. Ablutions? Beside the point though... you really know how to put power into sparse words. Awesome...
