Nasty Fog

“You're really not going out in that stuff!” The hotel clerk asked in amazement Not being familiar with Tennessee fog Wondered why was he questioning my intent “The truckers don't even travel in that It gets as thick as pea soup around here If you want my advice, I'd wait for a while Should be an hour or so 'fore it clears” Thanked him but told him I had no choice Had to be in Tampa, before midnight “Well, don't say I didn't warn you, my friend” Started thinking, “Hey, maybe he's right!” But off I go, and as I enter the Interstate His words came roaring back in my ears Actually couldn't see the car in front Suddenly I'm overcome with fear It was then my world came crashing down A blinding flash, an indescribable pain Now I'm sending this warning from above As I exist on a much higher plain “You're really not going out in that stuff!” Should have listened and taken his advice So here I am up here looking down Thinking, “Oh well, I had a good life!” © Jack Ellison 2013

This is kind of an eerie story... is it weird that I found your last line funny? It's almost as casual as "Oh well, I'll get that gallon of milk next time". You and your zany stories! I would say it's good advice, but the way you described it is so lighthearted I'm not sure how to take it... LOL!

Not much fog here... My Dragon says to come down from there, as he's not done having fun... Leave it to a Dragon to think of himself... When he could have been protecting your bum... I know this must have been a dream, because you gave this poem to us... So I'll be anxiously be waiting for tomorrow to come... So I can pig out on all the great fun!

I know you're in heaven... The Dragon's a bit dense, tho... He wants you to leave there so he can get what HE wants... He thinks he's more important you know...

That's terrible what happened... and you still can write poetry from up there? Ha ha! Yeah, fog can really be treacherous and very dangerous! I think fog is beautiful until I have to get out in it! The fog here can be a lot of fun to maneuver in! I loved your delightful poem here Jack, what a terrific piece, Great Work my friend!!

This actually happened on one of my many trips down to Florida! Of course the part about me dying in a crash are exaggerated a bit! LOL Thanks Russell
