PSYCHIATRISTS

PSYCHIATRISTS

They strip, tear and shred tiny pieces
bit by bit of neatly constructed
carefully protected thoughts and feelings
digging up and draining memories
satisfied only when your brain
feels as if it has been through
the shredding machine
contented with their execution
out comes the label of ‘diagnonsense’
pinning it firmly to your chest
covering the heart
carefully controlled fears and anxieties
give way to potent prescriptions
 that numb

(Written with respect for this profession—they are frequently vital in saving lives)

LOL, I like Delysia's comment. Kim, it was nice having you comment my poem. AND, yes them PSYCHIATRISTS do bring everything to the surface... But, I have a confession. I had to see a PSYCHIATRISTS, after my biological mother passed. LOL, and I turned the boat on him, I was the one giving him the tissues. After I made him cry, after he made me open up about her death. I did not give me prescription, not a diagnose. He did give me a hug.. a nice dedication...Linda

Nice write, Kim. I love your phrase "diagnonsense". The only people I allow in my head are my imaginary friends. Good poetry, homegirl.

This was a very unique topic to write about, and it was aptly worded. My brother-in-law is basically a psychiatrist... I often wonder what that's like. A job that's sole purpose to dig inside a persons most well kept secrets. Cool piece, and thanks for checking me out yesterday.
