In The Meadow

IN THE MEADOW

In the gently rolling green meadow
The quiet, peaceful meadow
Where the wild yellow buttercups bloom
Lie his bones in an unmarked tomb

The bones of a long dead fellow
Who became quite drunk and mellow
He kidnapped the village harlot
A lady whose name was Charlotte

Charlotte was oh so beguiling
She stabbed him, all the while smiling
Now he lies cold and buried in the meadow
In the gently rolling green meadow

Should this have gone on my poem for Kim's contest on Road Trip? At any rate, my trip was for fun and it proved to be great fun at that. I no longer do business trips because I'm enjoying retirement.

Hi Curtis....just going down my list poet friends since I finally figured out how to....and catching up...we must be from the same part of the country!....you wrote about buttercups! Love this poem....so beautiful....can't remember when I wrote mine but I mentioned buttercups in one of my poems...aren't they pretty when a whole field is in bloom?

Thank you, Barbara! I've been out of town (more out than in) and haven't yet caught up on all my mail. I appreciate your support.

This poem has a nice rhyme, but I hope it's not true, although - I know that there are some pretty bad lady killers. Thanks for sharing..... Lucilla

I just made it up for the contest by the same name. I'm surprised that not only has it been viewed so quickly but commented on by you. Thank you for sharing your comments.
