Best Friends

Just how wealthy in life can one person be We determine that wealth based on what we see The house, the job, the clothes, the cars Some try to impress by buying up stars

Well that works great for the shallow at heart But for someone like me it's not even a start For It's not what but who I have, that puts me ahead of the rest When it comes down to friends, Doreen is simply my best

From the first day we met it was an instant connection As close as it gets to friendship perfection We've weathered a lot, sometimes by laughter through tears It seems to be working for us, as we near thirty years

We have been there for each other when one of us grieves Watching out for each other, we are as thick as thieves Separated by circumstances we could not for see We rediscovered each other by pure destiny

We had searched for each other from coast to coast Found we had only been separated by twenty miles at the most Through all the hard times that life can hand out There is divine intervention without any doubt

As kids we were given a friendship to treasure With a love and a loyalty that goes beyond measure So if ever you want to know how wealthy a person can be There's no need to look any further than my best friend and med
