Coming Out

I gather myself
feeling quite smug .
Preparing all of me,
still on the shelf,
for my coming out.
I thought of the doodle bug.
Come out, come out
I used to say.
Come out, your house is on fire,
as I stirred the stick
a certain way.
Yesterday --
many !

Oh, that life
were still so simple.
Why can I not choose?
Why my nameless,
faceless, alter ego
demands to refuse
I will never understand.
Will I be someone else?
Will I be a happier me.
I don’t think so,
but, we shall see.
Tomorrow --
soon!

Dear Charles, I guess it's too late to be someone else. I've got to work with me. Time is running out. love, Kathy
