An Empty Tissue Box

When pain hits hard, you might feel like your soul is bleeding out, but there’s no blood to see. Your body is the part that takes the toll, and physically you feel the agony. Perhaps the pain goes to your heart as though a knife has sliced right through it, or you feel it in your gut as if you took a blow. No cut or bruise is shown, yet it is real! When both the body and the spirit seem to reach their limit, tears are overdue. You have to let those tears go! Let them stream and carry out the bitterness for you. An empty tissue box becomes the sign that soon, and hopefully, you will be fine.

I think at times we all need those empty boxes of tissue. Seems like that is the mood I am in lately. kids are all sick again with the flu and the 3rd time around. Oh well spring is here soon so won't be blue. love phyl

You have caught my breath with every line.. I guess it is the sincerity you write with.. The examplification of what we really feel... All put in a sonnet! Going to my favourites! Great great great poem!

Andrea I needed to read this poem today. It seems I have too many empty tissue boxes so I certainly can relate to your penned words. My surgeries have taken a toll on me and I have still a long road to recovery. Thank you for sharing this uplifting poem. Warm Smiles, Connie

Hi Andrea, congratulations on your win! This poem is so beautifully and truthfully written. I could feel every verse with such clarity from your words you have penned. I've seen my share of empty tissue boxes for a lifetime, I know that with each one I am closer to healing. Thank you for such a beautiful write. Blessings and hugs

Your heroic couplet is such a charm! Crying is a tough subject. I hope this evening finds you well since there are usually plenty of reasons to shed tears. I really like this ending because the hope is there for healing rather than getting another box. Funny thing--crying. I tell my wife she is lucky to be married to a crier.

Hello Andrea, Awesome poem. I want to thank you for your comments on my poem Where Have all the Christians Gone. To answer your question about why I chose My poem as Haiku is because I am not up on all the different types of poems and was not sure what to put. I hope to learn the different types but it is going to take some time. Thanks again, Terry.
