Lavender Roses

Leading to our room. . .
fragrant petals you had strewn -
        lavender roses.
Their hue was that of the sky
when passion first bloomed for us.

Lavender roses -
      your anniversary gift
for our fortieth.
Where the path of blossoms ends. . .
      we recreate fantasies.

congrats on your win andrea, I remember this one from when I was reading the entries and I noted it as being one of the best; I like the way you made it personal rather than merely describing the roses :)

This is wonderful, and congratulations for so many years. You must have married at a young age which makes this so much more special. These things are much more important than trinkets!

Love the romance in these tanka's !!

  1. Date: 4/11/2013 12:18:00 PM

I like the use of passion in both stanzas, implied in the 2nd - it all ties together. I still prefer just the one tanka to a sequence. how about you? best wishes in rick's contest!

L love this Andrea. Even though lavender roses are very rare,I actually have one growing in my rose gardenl. I love my roses even though I am not an expert, they seem to do quite well. Although, I get sad when they are looking lifteless without any blooms.. when they get blooms again it puts a smile back on my face. I can just imagine these lavender petals strewn on he floor leading to a romantic evening. Pam x

This is elegant. I see the suble power of giving all the way through. Probably the reason for celebrating the fortieth. Love this
