    Love it Donna, my daughter was friends with the drand daughter of the Donner Party, kids did tease her about the canibalisum. I have all the records and pictures of my daughters dad's family back to the boat ride over, there is a newspaper article about great- great granma age 9 in covered wagons and Inians ;}

    That's so cool Debbie....my great great or maybe one more great...grandma got married at like 12 to an old white man instead of taking a roll number to go on the trail of tears.a lot of my ancestors died on that. Thanks for stopping...I love your new pic..have a great weekend....:-)

    A nice history lesson. I can't imagine what it was like to be on that great and LONG wagon trail. I loved the moral behind the story, and the repetition in it was just the right amount. It seems when the world drops blessing into your lap our first instinct is to take it for granted - and then hoard it all for ourselves. Very well penned!

    Well written Donna. Thank you for your nice comments on my poetry. Your poem sounds as though you were writing about the dustbow days in the 30's When folks left for the west because their own land had blown away. . Joyce

    As always the opportunists -that dark human factor- wipes out the beautiful optomistic side. I loved this trip into the past. I read a poem of Walt Whitman's recently decribing men, and it could have been written about today's society, which proves nothing changes, a kind of sad reality. Thanks for stopping by my page today SuZ

    Ah yes Donna...Sadly there are no new frontiers left...Another evil legacy we left was robbing the Indians of their land and just about everthing else, including their dignity ...They were here FIRST and they also respected and cherished Mother Earth as we have never learned to do...beautiful stuff here my friend - Tim

    What our ancestors endured, seems so heroic in the days when most of us take for granted the luxuries of life today.....sitting here behind a computer screen......they would never have thought such a thing possible. A good twist to the contest, Donna! Nicely done! Good luck!
