When I start saying: "Haiku can NOT ever employ this, and also NOT that, and should ALWAYS employ this....then I join the ranks of hypocrites. Haiku is about discipline. We can evolve our own disciplines. When people enforce their disciplines upon you, then the enjoyment factor can easily take a nose-dive. But all of these are obvious statements that you already know.

*cont'd* -- Relates to the opening imagery in a strong manner, as opposed to how some of the PS haiku nazis like to write them: cherry petals/drift on the breeze - chimney. Ha ha! Wtf? I started learning haiku as a child. This is wot I have learned since: there are hundreds of different styles and interpretations. I am simply rambling about my personal tastes. I am not claiming my tastes to be "right". That is a major difference. Haiku nazis are a bore-snore.

Aha! If you refer to my comment just before this one, this is EXACTLY wot I was talking about with linking two of the action lines into one. To me, this is a decently written haiku, whether 'graded' in the classic, objective sense, or as an American-style objective haiku. Good job, Craig. My taste is that the juxt shouldn't be too wide so as not to lose the reader within the gap(like some of the haiku-nazis on PS push for). Your juxt is wide enough and relates to the initial imagery.

Delightful little haiku here. Quite an honor to be placed next to such an experienced poet. My congratulations on your win. And no, I don't say that to everyone.
