Lay them in their bed

settled in deep by a heart thats still in mourn
laying down to rest in a bed made by the torn

a face in a picture, eyes that stare on and on
a treasured memory, a part of the past is gone

hard to part with family, hard to part with freinds
hard to watch a casket close, it truly is their end

dirt becomes their blanket, the darkness is their home
we sit with them for hours, but still they lay alone

a bench beside their grave, a flower from company
as a gift we leave our tears, thens the time to leave

all around us people, are laughing and living loud
its hard to be so somber in such a lively crowd

If we had the chance, and could see them once again
we know theyd tell us to live, not to linger in the pain

but sitting at the table, face burried in my hands
i think of the young friends i am missing, and just dont understand

people with a future, they were not done their chores
and yet they are now finished, they cant do them anymore

I look out at the gravel, and in my minds keen eye
I see that truck still driving, letting loose stones fly.

I see those hands so careful, painting stroke by stroke
a voice so comforting, a voice so filled with hope

a friend is layed to rest, and theres nothing we can do
but keep them in our hearts, let their memories be true.
