Fool's Gold

I fell in love by fits and starts
We needed time to knit our hearts;
It was your eyes that cast the spell
The promise there I loved too well.
Those tender lips that beckoned me
Should have warned it's time to flee;
Your body's pledge, the promised prize
The hidden hopes concealed in lies.
The words you spoke that made me warm
Could also hurt and hatch a storm.
Love's rocky road runs hot and cold
And what we find may be fool's gold;
For now I know I'm not for you
As love of parts is never true.

    So sad when this happens, but sometimes I guess one just deeply falls, only finding out too late, how it was fool's gold-- I hope I remember right, that is also called pyrite? Wonderful flow and rhythm in your poem, Lizzie.... I hope you are doing well!

    Ah, I did comment on this one before, Elizabeth.:) You think with your heart as much as you do with your head, always outstanding writes by you! Thank you for the last comment, I can remember writing that. I'd just gotten some sad news about my nephew's passing.:( I'd sat at the table looking and listening to the outside. Sometimes things just 'happen'. I had written a Leprechaun poem for Terry; it had been a rush thing, and I'll rarely ever rush through a write. Love you, Mikki

    Hi Elizabeth, i've read your poetry from the start,and in my opinion, you are one of the very best on soup, if not the whole world....this is the first where, you give a little a little insight of the hurt you may have received, it is a funny old world, that if i'm right, it shows that it truly does go on to make the best and most sincere of all poetry,, i hope you dont take this comment the wrong way,, because truly i'm your number one fan, and this comment is my sentiment of esteem to you...
