The Moon Only Cries

A blazing Sun abruptly appears
Indulged in selfish applause
Heartless to the core, her light declares
She governs the Universe

The Sun gets only a glimpse of the Moon
Jealous of the Stars who pave the night's way
She races to conspire with the Horizon
To keep the Moon at bay

Melancholy is the Moon as night draws near
Chilled with howling cold and fear
Unspoken words hang stiff in the air
Each has felt them like a prayer

The Moon sits in shadows of his own silhouette
To endure thousands of years in silence
Staring through space with hollow eyes
There are no words, the Moon only cries

Sometimes the moon appears in the day. If only to show she's not gone away. A retrospect of the previous night. Reminding us that, there's always a light. Sorry. Sometimes a good poem makes me drift and think. This was a very good write. I enjoyed it a great deal. Keep it up. Rockman :-)

I really do get jealous when a beautiful poem is written and my name is not on it. You have mastered the heavens in this poem in ways that most of us can only dream of. Just a supreme job. Your friend Lynn.

Poignant and sad. Nice take on the circularity of our world (or at least how we perceive it). You have a great command of works and feeling. I envy you. Keep up the good work as you inspire me to write harder. Kilmer

oh now this interesting. I have portrayed the moon as the sun's lover in some of my own poems. It's so cool to see personification of those two great bodies! VERY good poem. Are you from Utah?? That's where I live!

I see you have done a great job of personification in this poem. It almost seems as if these celestial bodies were human! I am slightly puzzled though, over the cause of the moon's great sadness. Even so, the portrait of the crying moon and the haughty sun is genius!

Isaiah, Wasn't sure where this would go when a friend made a random statement and it took off on it's own. I think the moon became a symbol of being meloncholy because the sun grabs everyone's attention and the world pays more attention to the sun more than the moon, at least in this version
