Fighting The Age Battle

Although I vowed it wouldn’t happen,
Age is creeping up on me.
All my friends are now great-grandmas.
I don’t know how that can be.

My beautician and I decided
To stop coloring my hair.
We had both of us forgotten
What shade was hiding under there.

Imagine her excitement
And indeed my great dismay
That what ever hue had been there
Had completely gone away.

Now my friends are sympathetic.
They think I must have had a fright,
And it was so terrifying
It turned my hair white over night.

Congratulations on your win, dear Joyce! This is a very pleasant poem to show that aging people like us never really get old: we have lots of smiles and hearty laughs and humour for any painful attack from the enemy; and we've seen and overwhelmed much heavier deceptions than just aging! We are survivors; and not the weakest ones! Thanks for sharing! Love, Hanitra

hahaha. Nice one, Joyce. The years have been none too kind to me as well. No mind. I'm not that much bothered about my looks. I miss my good eyesight and energy. Well done, Joyce. :)
