David, exceptional on many levels. My favorite writers know how to weave inanimate characters (smug and arrogance or other nouns) into lively characters. You have captured the exact state of being for most of us who strive to make our way without being smug and arrogance. This is a phenomenal piece of work.

Reminds me so much of the corporate world I used to be sucked into..sitting behind my cubicle doing what I was told trying to make others look good while I forgot about myself. Miss you...xx Holly Moore

Strong villanelle, David. This is a poet's type of villanelle....a simple writer of poetry(as opposed to a poet), would have instead written about gumdrops or how a hotdog is the best food ever invented.

David, this villanelle is amazing! You should have entered it in my villanelle contest!! To say the least... I am certainly adding this one to my favorites.

This is great! So relevant in this world of ours, David. Truth be told, most of us have deadened our consciences feeding our appetites for excess..Great job as usual. Maybe this wil help us think?! Always, Annalise

Thanks for your kind words on my poem. I haven't been diagnosed with OCD but I'm sure I have it....this is my mind! This is an awesome poem....I've been writing for years but I'm no poet and have never heard of half the different styles of poetry. If this is Villanelle...I love it. You are a poet!
