Mr McCaleb's Garden

No flowers in my garden
Nor shrubs I love dearly
The plants in my patch
Are harvested yearly

Cucumbers and taters
Tomatoes and corn
Peppers and peas
Not a rose, not a thorn

Squash ... of course
Carrots ... you betcha
But bunnies beware
I'll make stew if I catch ya

This is sweet and light hearted but not in a frivolous way. It was written by someone who.. I'm guessing, is still a child a heart, and I really appreciate that.

It reminds me of the child's bunny story. I think it's Mr. McGregor's Farm. I loved your last line. Fresh is the best way to go. if you can grow it, why buy it. Nicely done Caleb. Warm Smiles, Connie

Haha! I always rooted for Mr. McGregor lol I cannot stand bunnies...something about 'em gives me the creeps...good eating though and I love a well-kept garden of herbs and veggies...I'm hungry now =) but I really enjoy reading your poetry, simplicity is the most sublime form of joy, don't u think?
