Promises

I was promised a bike
Then I made my dad mad
He said it was my fault
All because I was bad

Promises promises
Yes so easy to make
little pieces of dreams
That other people take

My first lover told me
She'd love me for all time
What we had was special
She would always be mine

Promises promises
Yes so easy to make
Little pieces of dreams
That other people take

Still I kept believing
These wishes would come true
Promises promises
Would stop making me blue

So I made a promise
One I hoped would be true
It turned out my promise
Wasn't easy to do

Promises promises
Yes so easy to make
Little pieces of dreams
That even I can take

I look to the heavens
I can now see so clear
He's the promise keeper
Who has always been here

His wonderful promises
Have all been made and kept
With this realization
I just silently wept

He gave me some loved ones
To show dreams can come true
There really are people
Whose promises are true

A shout out to some of the promise keepers
Who have made a difference in my life. Mom, Teresa, Mary and Matthew.
I love you all so much.

I was just thinking...politicians and promises , what good bedfellows! But at the end of the day, do they usually get the poor people to the promised land? Mhh.....

2 Corinthians 1: 20- For all God's promises are "Yes" in him. And so through him we can say "Amen," to the glory of God. Richard...this is a beautiful testament to your faith! Lovely write!

I love this one. Promises are not easy to keep. That is why we shoud always be careful in what we promise. Thanks for sharing. Lucilla

Rick! It"s so wonderful! You are definitely a great, great poet. You really touch the hearts of people with very simple words and a terrific elegant style; it"s just our everyday life, with the same hopes and deceptions about others and ourselves. And above all, THE realization: our God is the Greatest! Great poem! Hugs, Hanitra
