After Math

You count the days so many ways.
But the bottom line just don't add up.
The clouds roll in and it's all a haze.
Without a little cream and sugar in your cup.

The ten o'clock news repeats the six o'clock news.
Two times a night doesn't change the views.
Kinda makes ya wanna just turn off the set.
Enough's enough, your gonna get what you get.

You see two people where there used to be three.
You do your calculations, but your still not sure you see.
How you can remove a piece and it still works.
Must be the presence of her essence that still lurks.

No matter how you slice it, whether you triple it or twice it.
The answer still comes up the same.
One day at a time until you die.
That's the only rule to the game.

your last verse contains so much wisdom - it could actually be the meaning of life! and of course, i love that it's in perfect rhyme...

One day at a time is about all I can stand. I see you and I have similar views dealing with repetition and other peculiar phenomena. So nice you are writing again Robert. Love, Lizzie
