About This Poem
Because We Are Brave
On a pedestal high
and foundation weak,
When your lying tongue
no longer dares to speak,
Where at such a lofty place
pigs practice somersaults,
it will come to you, an epiphany,
"This was all my fault"
From the streets of muck and gray
to a house of white,
The world will once again
hear your unheeded plight,
And, alas, for a little while longer
you shall remain,
But to every creature of flesh
the outcome is the same,
A message of hope,
to the leader of the free world
"Because we are brave
we shall take these stones of broken truth
and salvage what left we can save"
