About This Poem

Bambino, Bambina

Bambino, bambino, bambino
Born in San Bernadino
   In a manger of hay
   One fine Christmas day
That's why they call him El Niño

Bambina, bambina, bambina
Born in a little cantina
   And maybe some day
   You'll join the ballet
And be a sweet ballerina

I see you have also mastered limericks my friend...Love it Roy! Haven't taken Spanish since the 8th grade but Lemmie take a shot...'Bambino'or 'El Nino' is the boy Christ? Bambina is the feminine, right?...How cool that you made her a ballerina! (maybe a Spanish angel ballerina?)...Anyway, I always look forward to reading your poetry - Tim

Bambino is Italian for baby boy, Bambina likewise for baby girls. I just liked the sound and it's easy to say. You are correct about El Niño being the Christ child in Spanish. I wanted something kids would like to have read to them, both boys and girls.
