TATTOOS

A two-legged canvass
in crimsons and blues
dragons ginormous
and suchlike tattoos

Diamonds and rare gems
that shimmer and shine
flowers on long stems
with sleek strokes and lines

Exciting ones hid
in crannies and nooks
all that's forbid;
condemned by the Book

Exposed on the outside
pleasing to prudes
on out-of-sight hide
erotics and nudes

Boy, don't you call them tattooes, they are skin illustrations! This reminds me of the short story written by the late Ray Bradbury.

Just got an email of people with tattoos, not one inch of skin showed. This is top notch poetry as you bring out the hidden and what's showing. Enjoyed this so much Lysia. Thanks for your nice visit! :)

Delysia, a nice way of tattooing the images of the art hidden and not hidden. I don't like the ones that are to exposed... love your poem...Linda

An interesting subject. I often ask myself why tattoos have become so popular these days? This poem hits on a variety of issues associated with this art form.

Such a fun and smooth poem. Next up are tongue piercings.

Lysia, I can relate to this one because I'm one of those who succumbed to a tattoo artist many years ago. Now I wish I hadn't! It's a rose and heart on my chest (in honor of my mother, named Rose) but now its beginning to fade and I no longer possess that once handsome physique that made it more attractive back then. Another one of my many "young & dumb" mistakes. Still, GREAT little poem and Soup Mail my friend...Terry

This is fun, I am afraid of needles so no tattoos for this guy.

I'm just as scared of needles. The closest I get to tattoos is the kiddie stickers of butterflies and cartoon characters and such. The ink is washable so they just last for the day. Thanks for your comment, Richard.
